I got a Wii this past Christmas and I will openly admit that with my mix matched hours, I end up playing the system the most in the household. Currently I am averaging about 3 hrs. a week. This of course is the tally of the internal gaming clock the system keeps. A nice feature given, it will even prompt you to consider putting the game down and “…go outside.”

One of the Wii’s features as you may or may not know is the ability to download (unfortunately nontransferable and encrypted) ROMs of older NES, SuperNES, Sega Genesis, Turbo Graphix 16, and N64 games to play with a compatible controllers should you own one. As a result I am finally able to play older titles that I can recall others playing in my youth but to which I never really got around to completing entirely on my own. This renewed interest in game play, I have to admit, is quite satisfying. I pretty much equate it to finishing a book that has been staring at you on you bookcase forever. Simply: One more things cross off Life’s list.

My current obsession: The Legend of Zelda (NES) and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)

Hopefully I can actually beat these games and then switch back to my Gamecube version of Zelda: Ocarina of Time so that I can then justify purchasing the next three Zelda titles. Undoubtedly this will all come to pass only after Nintendo has released six more titles in the Zelda canon to ensure that my “task” never reaches completion. Given my pace, I should be about forty when I actually gain closure.
