FORM CA-IOU…

So after the much publicized hoopla that the state has been going through I decided to check out the update FAQ at the CA State Franchise Tax Board website regarding the status of all things state tax.  Interestingly, something I had joked about was right there in the first ten questions:

“Am I entitled to receive interest because of the delay?

It depends upon the length of the delay. For individual taxpayers, interest on current year refunds is only paid if your refund is not issued within 45 days after April 15, or the date that your return is filed, whichever is later. If you are entitled to receive interest on a prior year refund, you will receive it when your refund is issued.”

I still have half a mind to call them up and let them know that I won’t be waiving any of the standard processing and delay payment fees.  But then again, I guess in a sense, it would be the equivalent of suing myself….and my neighbor…and well everyone else in the state.
